GySgt Coon USMC

GySgt Daniel Coon – USMC

May 19th – May 27th 2018

Roatan, Honduras

We are proud to introduce United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Coon.  GySgt Coon served with 2/5 (Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division) with combat deployments to Iraq.

Coon visited us for a week of scuba diving in Roatan, Honduras. GySgt Coon suffers from wounds sustained from multiple IED blasts in Ramadi, Iraq.  GySgt Coon had never experienced scuba diving before and was very excited about trying diving as therapy. Although Coon had been hesitant to enter the water because of the unknown environment of scuba diving and his injuries sustained in the blasts in Ramadi, he was cleared by a doctor before his trip and the second we got him underwater he was in awe! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Coon, his all around excitement and energy were such a wonderful and addictive thing to be around and unfortunately the week flew by too fast.

The diving was incredible to say the least, being able to offer our services to wounded veterans in the caribbean makes the courses easy due to visibility and lack of currents/rough seas.  If you are interested in our program and becoming a Warfighter Diver please contact us and we can begin the registration process!

Our organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that cannot function without your donations. Please help us help eliminate the veteran suicide rate by donating at www.warfighterscuba.org/donate/
